K2 beats NetHack

Second time in my life to ever do it. Was hard as hell, too, even with having an items to get spoiler sheet. I've played this game so many times tho, I dont really need any spoilers anymore.

Character used was a male Elf Wizard (chaotic) - not the easiest character to use, but not the hardest, either. I think on my next go-around I'll try a tourist or a caveman, those are super-tough to acsend with from what I've read.

Here's the print out of the end:

An invisible choir sings, and you are bathed in radiance...

The voice of Anhur booms: "Congratulations, mortal! In return for thy service, I grant thee the gift of Immortality!"

You ascend to the status of Demigod...

Once I realized it wasn't a game based on Net Hacking, or even Cyper-punk themed I lost interest. Why in the hell is it named Net Hack?
I really need to change this sig

Jeng: NetHack is a single-player roguelike computer game originally released in 1987. It is an evolution of an earlier game called Hack (1985), which was itself an evolution of Rogue (1980). The "net" element references that its development has been coordinated through the Internet, which was notable at the time. The "hack" element refers to a genre of role-playing games known as hack and slash for their focus on combat. - Wikipedia

I cant remember, I'll need to sacrifice the amulet again (I saved the game right before that point) and save the stats/monsters vanquished data.

I know I killed a lot more named demons this time around, but the one I really wanna get is Demogorgon - he's the toughest mob in the game by leaps and bounds, but he's very rare. I've only encountered him three times *ever* and I got my ass whooped every time.

It took me years on/off initially. Once you learn all the major tricks and stuff you need to ascend (and there's a shitload of stuff you need to learn), then it only takes about a week or so.

However - playing different classes represents a whole new challenge, as the way you can ascend with one doesnt necesarily work for another, plus the way you get your quest artifact is totally different for each class.

You can also opt to follow certain conducts - http://nethack.wikia.com/wiki/Conduct - I've done the whole 'never wished for an artifact', 'never polymorphed an object/polymorphed into anything', and 'never genocided anything' but that's relatively easy to withhold from doing. I just started a Monk, and on top of the above, I'm also going to refrain from eating meat (Vegan, which is hard-core vegitarian *there's a difference* ), never hit with a wielded weapon, and I'm also going to try to refrain from using wishes altogether... gonna raise the bar somewhat.

What would really be tough would be to play as a pacifist/athiest/illiterate.

Tried Dungeon Crawl yet? its similar to Nethack (available in ascii and semi graphic mode) and freeware.

My biggest beef with Nethack is it got a bit too complex, so its got an incredible learning curve for any new players.

I'm not sure if DC is as epic as Nethack as I haven't played Nethack to finish (usually get frustrated with commands and such) just started goofing off with DC.

Another Epic thats oddly real time is Dwarf Fortress, even jobless as I am I'm afraid to start that one, hehehe
