CS:Global Offensive

Sooo, Global Offensive has been delayed. No surprise, its Valve, the game will be late, but nearly flawless when it is released. I'd rather it this way instead of buggy like BF/CoD.

Anyway, they apparently removed their cross platform plans, which kind of sucks. Does anyone have any dirt on this? Rumors? Facts? I'm actually looking forward to some CS on the PS3, nothing has felt right since the old Source days.

Hate to say it... but from watching the trailer, it looks almost exactly like CS: Source. Just more shiny.

Too bad just a few days ago they announced that it will not be cross-platform, as was originally intended.

Console gamers the world over breath a sigh of relief.

If you were looking forward to finally settling the age-old gamepad vs keyboard/mouse debate, well... you don't need to. We won. There was a party afterward. It was really great. I can't believe you didn't hear about it. Even so, diversity is the spice of life, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, sadly, won't be quite as flavorful as originally intended. Cross-platform play's officially out. On the upside, though, Valve has a very good reason for taping a "No console players allowed" sign to CSGO's PC version.

So said Valve's Chet Faliszek in an interview with Joystiq.

"The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC. To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn't hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play -- essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them."

VG247, meanwhile, reports that Valve's officially pegged the terrorist-thwarting pseudo-sequel with a summer release window, meaning that Ill-Defined Summer Date is going to be the best day ever. Diablo III, Quantum Conundrum, and CSGO? I'm so counting down the days until whenever that is.

It's going to have to be exceptionally good, and take a decent amount of skill to play to drag me away from AA3. The challenges of playing AA3 I actually like, game doesn't just hand you anything. (Yeah I feel like I'm talking about an MMO).

"Console gamers the world over breath a sigh of relief." -> Rofl

They really need to do a major graphics overhaul on it. It looks like CS: Source with a shiny new map layout and reskinned models.

Sigh..

Don't get me wrong, I'm playing the fucker when it comes out.

The whole cross platform thing makes me want to roll my eyes.. but sure, wth.. I would love to kill me some console homos. :P

There gonna be a hardfought server for CS:GO? Would be sweet!

Kinda doubt it, I think Keith swore off game servers forever

Afraid not. I haven't gamed in almost 2 yrs, I have no way to put up a server (I still have one of the old HF servers tho hah!) and even if I did, I have zero time to run it properly. Sorry but it's not gonna happen, ever.

Unless I win the lottery and become oprah-rich. Then I'll create a game server empire the likes of which you have never seen muhahahah!! :D

Well in that case, anyone found a decent server to call home?

I might download this tonight, assuming the old source rig can still run this. Will post up if I do and give this a solid review.

Eta: I'm having lithotripsy done Monday at noon, gonna leave me down for a few days recovering, so I might get some decent game time in if I feel like sitting upright for extended periods of time.

Another re-skin of CS? No thanks. I guess we'll never see a true sequel.

I hate to say it, but after a few hours of playtime, I have to agree with Mav. It's just a prettier version of Source. Probably won't put much time into it.

Isn't there a pay-in-game thing like what TF2 has? I heard players would be able to purchase certain items and player-made content in-game.

There are some new additions, but I won't be sticking around long enough to figure them all out, as the improvements aren't enough to get me back into gaming. Keith, if you want to give this a shot for free, you are welcome to log into my steam acct. send me a pm.

Thanks, but I don't have a computer that can play 3D games. The most advanced game this system can handle is Age of Kings II and that's pushing it.

Keith, my rig is from our original DAoC days and can run it fine...

DAoC = 3D. My current machine cant even play that. It's a little netbook that's geared for email/web only.

It's a good game, especially for the price.

They need to fix the sound of walking though. I understand hearing gunfire far away. But if I hear people walking as far as I can hear their guns fire... there's something wrong.

Guns seem to be less prone to spray and pray. Awp is no longer 100% accurate standing up.

I'm glad they didn't change much, I would've like to see some more maps though.
