Need some advice on what video card to buy? Wanna buy/sell/trade some equipment? This is the place to ask.

iPod Touch/iPhone

Postby Nad » Apr 4th, 2009 at 9:55 am

I'm sure a few of you use these, have you found any apps that are great for them?

I have an iPod touch, and i jailbroke it so I can put pretty much whatever I want on it, but haven't found many apps that are worth having.

I love my ipod touch. I want the iphone, but I am waiting for a 32GB version of it.

Some of the apps I use are eReader (I've got over 50 books on it), a dictionary, a level (it works too!), a unit converter, a lil thing called road trip (accurately tracks my gas mileage), and a great lil program called air sharing which lets me use my itouch as a file storage/share over wireless. I also have a nice lil chess program and texas hold 'em.

I want an iPhone but i don't want AT&T or T-Mobile as their coverage in my area sucks balls and my entire family/friends is on Verizon like myself. I'm playing the waiting game ATM. As for the iPod Touch, theres a strict "no iPod's allowed" rule in my house (I didn't make it)

Lot of us down here in Austin feel the same way about AT&T... I swore to never use them again after I got rid of my land line. Guess it's just like Fords and Chevys.. Some ppl like Ford, and some prefer Chevy.

But here's the phone that we're using on the Sprint network, which I recommend, tho it's highly intelligent and not easy to use. It does so many things that the iPhone won't do, like copy/paste; something I use all the time, plus the phone acts as a wireless router so when we're out an about we can always connect the laptop.

A good source of information about cell phones, is this site; just click on the picture of the phone you're searching for on top...

I've got a 2G iPhone and the wife has a 1st gen iPod Touch.

Neither are jailbroken, but the cool thing is that any paid apps I buy can be shared for free on the iPod Touch because it's tied to my iTunes acct.

Some of my favorite apps are BeejiveIM, WunderRadio, MLB At Bat, Mafia Live!, Kindle for iPhone, Facebook, Tweetie, Colloquy, Simplify, Skype, Air Sharing...I currently have about 7 pages of apps.

Could us CDMA folks be FINALLY getting the iPhone. Someone argued the fact that AT&T has the contract through 2012. Someone else pointed out in that contract that Apple specifically worded it to say "exclusive GSM iPhone". Waiting game I guess.

It'll happen eventually Jay.

Have you looked at the new droid phone? Looks like it's out-selling the iphone currently.

I think these guys wait until their viewership is down and then write these articles to gain attention.

This might be the real deal, I've seen the same story on a few other news sites.

Finally settled on the Droid X and let me tell you guys, I cannot say enough good things about this phone. The call quality has got to be the best I have ever had in a cellphone and the flexibility of the phones O.S is the fastest I have seen on a smartphone, and I am still running android 2.1 (2.2 is due end of next week for me).

I can even watch Justin.tv which is outstanding for when hockey season rolls around.

Droid Incredible looks better, if I were to own a Droid phone.

I'll believe it when I see it. Duke Nukem Forever was a done deal too. Hell, there were trailers of it for two years. That was 2003.

So I don't think we should get all iPhone happy. The IPad WILL NOT connect to the Verizon network on it's own. If you want that functionality, you have to shell out another $130 for an adapter. Sounds like they are gonna end up being like Target and just selling them outright.
