Antivirus for netbook

Postby Suck. » Jan 8th, 2010 at 4:33 pm

My parents just got a netbook and I was wondering what you all thought about the best antivirus software to put on it, as well as the best free antivirus software to put on it.

I use NOD32 on my netbook... on all our computers actually. Good stuff - http://www.eset.com

For free? I've heard a lot of good things (surprisingly) about Microsofts free offering - MS Security Essentials - http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials

AVG free or Avira are both excellent free antivirus programs.

I currently use NOD32 for my wife's netbook.

Used to have Norton NIS on there but it hogged up too much resources.

I use NOD32 for desktop, but haven't shelled out the 2nd fee for the netbook. Currently using MS SE. Doesn't seem to hog system resources or cause any problems.

Cath, you can use the same user/pass for NOD32 on multiple systems. Been doing that now with about 6 different computers for the last 3 yrs with no issues.

Neato. Have you tried Smart Security? My mom needs all the internet protection she can get.

Nah not smart security, just the antivirus. Keeping running processes down to a minimum.
