page generation time

Postby Phoenix » Dec 29th, 2007 at 5:58 pm

Way high on the forums, right now a fast generation is 23 seconds, to load this page it was [ Page generation time: 432.1477 seconds (PHP: 100% - SQL: 0%) ] :: [ 12 SQL queries excuted ] :: [ GZIP disabled ]

Real bad, I left the room and came back to make the post.

yeah, the main page was taking so long to load I didn't want to wait for the lower half with the web forum to open  Anyway as long as you know and there is nothing that you can do to fix it we shall live with it, not like those of us who don't pay for it should be complaining.

Dedicated servers from hostrocket run about $70/month, so if y'all want to chip in, we could upgrade. Keith has spent literally thousands of $$ over the years on hardfought costs, so I think a few slow page loads to save $60/month is fine.

I appreciate the offer, but we really dont generate nearly enough traffic to warrant a dedicated hosting plan. I have been kickin around the idea of switching hosts tho, but that probably wont happen until after I return from this deployment.

You could always think about a Virtual Private Host... basically it's a big beefy box that they carve up into VM's. Usually runs between $20 - $150... Or do something like grid hosting. http://www.mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/

It has been bad here at a few times... bust most of the time the pages come up in a second or two.
