Why the website was down earlier today

Postby K2 » Sep 13th, 2006 at 11:18 pm

The website was moved to a different server at HostRocket today per my request. Reason being - I now need SSL capability, because here real soon I am going to start offering merchandise for sale, and I wanted a secure method of doing that. HostRocket can provide a secure certificate for free, but your web server has to reside on one of their servers that has that installed. Hence the move.

And of course, posting here that that was about to happen would be pointless, because you wouldnt be able to read it anyways. They're that quick.

Carry on, nothing to see here, all is well...

No... by the time I got the notification that they were ready to make the switch, and my reply back to them... if I had tried to post here that the site was about to go down, you would have never had a chance to read it. That's what I meant, they started almost immediately after I gave the go ahead. The change itself probably didnt take more than an hour if that, but the DNS record changes is why when you tried 'www.hardfought.org' that nothing came up for a few hrs. It takes awhile for DNS record changes to propagate thru out the 'net.

Nub :P
