Need help with PHPBB forums

Postby WidowMaker » Aug 24th, 2006 at 10:07 pm

I setup a PHPBB forum on my daughter's website. It works great, but I want to make one change.

I need to know if there is a way to replace the phpBB logo at the top of the page with a different image, like K2 has done here, with the Hardfought logo.

Anyone know how I could accomplish this? I could simply upload a different image and name it the same as the phpBB logo, seems like that woudl work. But ideally, I would like to add a link to the top of the page as well so people could go back to the homepage. Right now, you have to physically re-enter the homepage address in the address bar to go back to the homepage, which is a pain.

For reference, the webpage is www.ourbabykatelyn.com
There is a link to the forums at the top of the page.

was gopnna say that but thats your child...wouldnt want u to break out the wooping stick. But that toy mesmerized my son when he was that age. All the velcro things and the mirror drove him crazy. To be thinking he'll be turning 3 Sunday. Seems like yesterday he was her size. After about 6 months old u wish they were old enough to walk & talk but after they walk & talk u wish they would be babies again :( Enjoy every second of every day cuz after they start walking & talking good they're less dependant :**(

Go to the ../phpBB/templates/subSilver folder on your webserver Wid, find a file called overall_header.tpl. Open it, and find this line:

Code: Select all

<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/********" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>

That line will be towards the bottom of the file. Change ******** to whatever the filename is of the graphic you wanna use. make sure to put that graphic in your ../phpBB/templates/subSilver/images folder.

It looks like our gallery is an older version of what is found at http://gallery.menalto.com/

Ours looks like this, which is apparently a version 1.x : http://gallery.menalto.com/gallery/scre ... hotsG1old/

Go into your gallery directory here:

Code: Select all

/gallery/html_wrap

Copy the

Code: Select all

wrapper.header.default
too

Code: Select all

wrapper.header
Modify the wrapper.header to include whatever you want. And your done. :)

It has been some time since I've dealt with phpBB, but isn't there an option somewhere in the administration panel to change the banners? Could have sworn there was. Changing it in the php file itself is one way, but if you update the forums you will most likely lose changes that you make that way, best bet is to set it in admin (maybe look for theme administration or such). There should also be an option as to where the banner at the top of the page points.
I've been using Simple Machines www.simplemachines.org forums for the last 5-6 months or so, pretty damn nice, and quite in depth administration. Easier to customize a lot about it as opposed to phpBB (in some aspects). www.kccclan.com/forums

Edit: What's up with my signature... the format looks correct to me, but it's not loading an image? Works fine on my clans forums..
phpBB doesn't know how to load remotely created images? :(
