Call of Duty 4
Anyone else interested or already getting this game? I've never played any of the COD series but I dig the modern setting and early reviews are rave. I might just buy a copy this weekend.
K2 any chance of a server for this?
Having never played COD I dunno what to expect of the online play but at least the single player looks really solid.
Sound off fgts. proval.

I would, but you have the buy the game and upload the installed contents to run a dedicated server. It's not available on steam until the 12th for some fucked-up reason.
Over 7k ppl playing this game online right now as of this post...
If someone like Suck or Boomhauer could buy the game, install it, and upload the files to the 38.101.79.96 server under /games/cod4, that'd be great
Otherwise you all will have to wait until I'm in a position to buy the game and upload it myself - that's gonna be a few days, as I just landed in Boston, and I'm in no position to do any of that right now.

Well that's actually not enitrely bad K2. The brightside is we can play thru the single-player campaign til the server is up.
As for why the Steam version releases on the 12th, I can only think that they didn't sign up COD4 for Steam until the very last minute. Or maybe some of the retail giants (Best Buy etc) had an exclusive contract to release first. It's probably a sign of how much online sales have really started to cut into retail sales.

Hardfought CoD4 is up... was up all morning (38.101.79.96, default port), but the server.cfg file was in the wrong spot, so it loaded up with default settings, hah
Hostname of 'cod4host' heheh
Got some solid play all the same. It's been fixed now - just look for the HF name. It's TDM, which seems to be the most popular game type to play. 32 maxplayers, FF off.

The MP aspect is quite amazing from what I have played so far. I purchased it for xbox 360 and have had a blast the past week. Plenty of different game types, some like CS where u plant and defuse and the rounds are like 2 mins long. Graphics are insane too. Haven't played much single player but I have heard it is great. I'm in Denton too neobob.

I tried testing the HF server but no dice. Dunno if someone was messing with server settings at the time or what?
But I played about an hours worth of the single-player campaign and this is hands-down the best I've ever played.
Well worth the money.
