Computer games that influenced you
Was thinkin' back on all the games I've played since my dad brought home 'Pong' back in 1975. So, here's my list of games that influenced my gaming days, and were some of the most fun games I've ever played on a personal computer:
Zork (first played on a Commodore 32)
Dungeons of Dagorath (TRS-80)
Tunnels of Doom (TI-99/4A)
Parsec (TI-99/4A)
Nethack
Starflight I and II (Tandy 1000 SX)
Beyond Zork
Bard's Tale
Eye of the Beholder series (played on a custom-built 386-DX)
Darkseed (one of the first games written in full 640x480 pixels)
Doom I and II
Quake (DM, CTF, TF) (first online gaming experience)
Quake2 (DM, CTF)
I've played a lot more games than these, but these are the ones that I felt were the most fun. I've left more recent games off of the list on purpose (nothing after 1999).
So, what games make your list?

I forgot about those. Oregon Trail was fun as hell. I used to go to the library just to play that game. Once they're Apple system that they ran it on was broken. I asked if I could try to fix it (even though I had no clue what I was doing). I tinkered for a while and got it working. I was so proud of my 9 year old self.

Combat (atari 2600) that game caused so many fights in our house =)
Doom (sega 32X) first played it a friends house on his computer, thought it was really awesome, couldn't afford a computer, but found it and the 32x at a flea market, played the hell out of it, couldn't save games per se, when you died /quit it gave a code for you to put in. Played it to the point, that when high in the dark, I could see the imps walking around.
Played Oregon Trail in school, but couldn't really say it influenced me. Though I guess it would be the first shooter game I ever played. Always bought tons of ammo.

I really need to change this sig
Man, I left out console and arcade games on purpose lol
I've got a few fond memories when I was in 4th grade, me and my buddy would ride our bikes to k-mart and get on the atari display demo and play asteroids til they kicked us off.
Once we also found 80 bucks tucked away behind an arcade game (was drop off money for a pot deal, hah). So what do we do? We changed ALL of it into tokens, and spent every last one. I played Ms. Pac-Man, elevator action, xenophobe, tempest, and galaga til my arms fell off. I got soooooo grounded (we stayed out 3 hrs past our time to be home heheh).
Back on PC games - they say Dungeons of Dagorath was THE precursor to FPS games, because it was the first game to render in actual 3-D, and your POV was thru the eyes of your character... it only displayed in a wire-frame style of gfx, in TWO colors (black and white, a lot like the very first flight sim), and the total size of the game? 8 kilobytes
But goddamn was that game hard, and the monsters were smart to a point. I played some of the ported-to-PC version last night... wow. Goin back almsot 25 yrs
Most of ya dont go back that far, but I'm wondering if anyone else has ever played it?

Quake 1 and 2. (first games I played on LAN)
Starcraft.
Diablo 2.
Wolfenstein 3D.
Doom.
Command and Conquer.
Unreal Tournament.
Links LS Golf.
Half-Life.
Binion's Horseshoe World Series of Poker.
Star Wars Jedi Knights 2.
All of those games insipired my current gaming tastes.
Guild Wars.
Counter-Strike 1 2.
Half life 2.
Wolfenstein RTCW.
Soldier of Fortune 2.
Quake 3 4.
Battlefield 2.
Console games I hundreds of hours on:
Super Mario 64.
Goldeneye 64.
Super Mario Kart (snes and Nintendo 64)
Final Fantasy.
Cruisin USA.
Mortal Kombat.
Street Fighter.
Super Mario RPG.
Tons of others I just can't remember them all right now. My days were pretty limited, my PC gaming pretty much started with Links LS Golf, followed by Starcraft and Quake 1/2. Plus we never had an NES, just SNES, Nintendo 64. But probably 30+ games for each one that we played all the time.

I was straight console until I got my first 286 in 93 I think.
I think Xray and my mom bought our first atari in 81 for a mere $200 american. What a deal
Missle command was the first game I ever rolled
Defender
Yars Revenge
Remember when Activision made Atari games, there was adventure game that I think was named Adventure
pirates on PC
wing commander that you had to buy the audio pack for
Tie Fighter (still my favorite game ever)
Rainbow Six on MSN Zone then all of the add ons and RS2 with urban ops add on.
Oh and off topic I really didn't want to post anymore since I made it to anti christ status but I had to. Thanks for that laugh K2

"I am Jack's smirking revenge."
Some notable mentions I would like to make - the original Wolfenstein 3D, StarCraft, Kings Quest 1, Dune (and later Dune 2000), and C&C: Red Alert. I didnt list them initially tho, because while I did play them and had some fun with 'em, they werent that memorable, or nothing that I felt I'd wanna go back and play again.

Pred, I just mentioned Dune and Dune 2000 in my last post
I guess Dune II was also known as Dune 2000. That game was teh shit, turns out it was responsible for how modern RTS games developed from that point on.
I remember the very last battle being hard as SHIT...
Fun game, but still didnt make my top list.
Info about Dune II - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_II
