My New RX-7

Postby Keyser Soze » Feb 17th, 2006 at 2:46 pm

I just got this. My new Mazda RX-7 FC. It's all stock. It's a 10th Anniversary Turbo. Puts out an amazing 182BHP which is a lot of more than a lot of sports cars put out today. Only 78K on it, all luxury options, only thing is that it's a 2 Seater, but who needs more than 2 seats in a sports car? The car's body and interior is flawless. Here's pics:

2003, Mazda trannies are made by ford, at least their auto trannies are. We all know how bad ford automatic trannies suck. If she babies it, it will be fine. If she rags on it, or even does alot of fast stop in go, i wouldnt expect more than a year or 2 out of it.

I've been thru 7 transmissions since i started driving in 97, I'm real hard on a car, but that mazda was the weakest i have ever driven.

If you do go with the auto, for fucks sake never use that sport shifter, thats the fastest way to wreck a tranny.

My mom is driving a protege, think she's had it bout 3 years now, she's been driving it pretty hard. The auto tranny has been the least of her worries, luckily nothing mechanically wrong with it.

Oh and Keyser, nice, very nice. Would suggest tweaks, but figure you've already been checking out what to do, how to do it, what is best to do, and all of that.

Mind posting some of your ideas so far?
I really need to change this sig

I can believe Xray hasn't chimed in. He had a '83 RX-7 that his wife crashed twice. She made him sell it.

This car felt hard to crash. The suspension and grip of this car is amazing, not that I want to test it. :)

You will be surprised at how much the cars weights :) Its small and heavy so handling is different then most cars of that type. I loved mine and will some day buy an RX8 or whatever the latest rotary is at the time.

There's no knocking sound. :) He was asking 3250$, got it for 3K. The only thing wrong with it is that is needs a new BOV for the Turbocharger, which isn't that expensive, the car is basically flawless, cosmetically, I really can't believe how clean this guy kept the car, even the freakin' owner's manual's pages are still crip! Here's the list of upgrades for this car:

Cold Air Intake System [170$]
Exhaust System [460$]
BOV [260$]
Intercooling Piping Kits [100$]
Sports Oil Filter [16$]
Aluminum Radiator [400$]
Sports Radiator Hose Kit [200$]
Performance Injectors[130$]
Strut Bar [75$]
Performance Clutch [350$]

Comes to about 2200, should be done in about 2-3 months. :)

I personally think stock RX-7s are the sexiest way they can get. The hoodscoop DOES indeed make it look pretty damn sexy, but if it has a front mount intercooler, and the body is the stock way...that's the kind of 7 I want. I still wish I had money.

This is what you need. You can save big $ and still get the same performance gain from having additional body parts.

That's definately junk that WILL dome something. I'm at least expecting it to bump me up to about 300-400BHP from the current 182BHP. As Cyber said, the RX-7 looks fine the way it is, I just care about speed, so I most probably will leave it as it is, but maybe in the future, (much in the future) if I get bored with how the car looks, I might spice it up with some new rims and a body kit... but no plans for that as of now.

Silver 83 RX7. Drove like a dream. Then my wife wrecked it not once but twice. I felt like someone had raped my car. I felt so violated. When I got it fixed it just wasn't the same. Then my wife got pregnant and I had to get rid of it because she wouldn't let me strap the baby's car seat on top of the car.

I went from driving a 83 RX7 and a 85 Jeep CJ7 to a Ford Tempo and a Plymouth Voyager Minivan. On that day I was truly neutered.
