Deending on how far away it is, I'll drive my RX-7, otherwise, I won't be able to make it unless I get a ride somehow, because last time my car took a 6 hour jog, I blew the rear eccentric oil seal...that costed almost $300 to fix.

In a couple months I'll start a "need a ride/give a ride" forum and ask that it be stickied. Too early now though.

Location: Dallas, TX - exactly where is to be determined (TBD).

Cost: Unknown at this time. Lan #6 was 30 bucks per person. This all depends on location, what provisions will be provided, if any, and how many people we think we can draw (the more I think we can draw in, the less I'll charge, all other things being equal).

Events: In a nutshell, we all bring our computers together, network 'em, and play to our hearts content . Also a lot of file trading/sharing going on (read: programs, porn, movies, porn, mp3's, porn...). IF the CPL pulls their head out of their butt and hosts CS:S again, we'll host another boot camp like last year, and host a tournament to boot. This is where ya see a lot of the top-rated teams in the world show up to participate. At LAN #6, we were covered by TsN and Gotfrag - the results of our tournament had a direct bearing on the seedings for the CPL tournament.

Game: CS:S of course, but anything goes. Definitely expect to see BF2, and whatever else a significant amount of ppl are interested in at the time.

Have a read - http://forums.thecpl.com/ubb/ultimatebb ... 001037;p=1

It's not a definite explanation, but it at least shows you wants goin on somewhat at the CPL pertaining to why it was pulled.

Thanks for the link K2.

Seems to me that a company or companies are offering more money under the table then Valve & friends are willing to. Money is always the great equalizer.

What are you talking about Nad? CPL pays VALVe to have a 1.6 tournament, lmao, not the other way around.

Bah... who ever still plays 1.6 are disproving themselves. At one point they're sayin source is much easier and noob friendly and then they question why cant top source team cant beat top 1.6 team in source... WELL NO FUCKIN SHIT? Why dont you move to source if theres no fuckin competition and you can make money without effort... and if it was more noob friendly and they say that teams in 1.6 can beat source teams of the same caliber PLAYING css... Im sry but wtf is their argument... pussies

I'd really like to know what Valve's opinion on this is.

I'm sure they'd much rather CPL hawking CS:S rather than the defunct 1.6.

But maybe Angel's pockets are lined by how many copies of Quake, Intel CPU's, or Nvidia cards are sold? Kind of ironic how Valve is an ATI partner.

This is merely a wild hypothesis.

My real point is that I don't understand why they would use an old version of a game for "Professional" competition. Does the majority of competitive CS players actually prefer 1.6?

I want to start a Pong tourney then!

Keyser, how do you figure that the CPL pays Valve, to allow them to advertise their own fuckin game to millions of people with national news/media coverage? I swear you just fell off the fuckin turnip truck son, grow the fuck up cause a cheap shot like that isnt going to boost your esteem around here.

Oh indomitable sage of wisdom and pillar of truth, why, pray tell, would valve pay them to play 1.6 instead of source?

im at keesler afb in biloxi MS

I spent 3 months there for a tech school during my brief sting in the Air Guard. Keesler is a nice base surrounded by an armpit. I saw the pictures of the base after Katrina. I'm surpised they arleady have it operational.

The tech schools there pretty good. I wouldn't want to be there as a non-prior service member tho. Being active or prior service Army Infantry/Marine on a training AFB is pretty cool. Nobody mess's with you and you get to do whatever you want for the most part.

I stayed off base for the fist month at a hotel across from Casino row (cost me alot of money living there). I then lived at Keesler Inn for the last two months. One of the advisors there is an ex Army Vietnam Vet. If you get any kind of choice, you want to talk to him over anyone else. He has alot of stroke in the AF and even knew my old platoon Sgt from my Army days (another Vietnam vet).

Cat, i think he is in the AF, since he is heading to Shephard AFB next. If that is the case, there is no way in hell the AF is going to let him talk to anyone that isnt in the Chair Force.

My instructors would talk to me like a normal person, but trashed the AFB kids nonstop. Most of the instructors were retired AF personel that were in the AF back when it was ran more like the Army. Some were prob in the AF back with it was still a part of the army lol.
