Nexus defends #1 OGL CCTF ladder rank, Major CS news, etc

OH man do I have a ton of news for everyone… grab a brew, kick back and relax, this will take a bit of time to go over :-)

First off… our quake3 clan Nexus once again defends it’s #1 spot on the OGL CCTF ladder, defeating Masters at Destruction by a score of 9-4. Representing Nexus this time around was myself, Nemesis, FizZ and b0ba. This match may very well have been Nemesis’s last game with us… he’s moving this weekend and he’s not sure if he’ll be able to get broadband access out where he’s moving to or not :-( I sure as hell hope so… just in case he doesn’t, this game was for Nem. Good game Nemesis! :-P and good game to MaD, they played a very tough match. I’m tired of chasing enemy flag carriers… :-) Be sure to check out our ‘Battles’ and ‘Files’ sections for a screenshot of the match as well as demos from mine and a spectator’s perspective.

CounterStrike news… hrm, where to start ;-) CounterStrike 1.1 was released the other night, as most of you are well aware of by now… and a main engine update to Half-Life itself was also released this afternoon. Be sure to check our ‘Files’ section for the *FULL* CS 1.1 and Half-Life 1.1.0.6 updates… yes, grab the full versions, not the patches. Turns out there’s some minor changes to maps and some bug fixes between the smaller upgrade files and the larger full version installers. The CS public and match port were updated using the full versions of each, so be sure to update your local copy of HL/CS with those to ensure a smooth transition. Also… the problem we had earlier with AdminMod crashing the port on map changes or any other issued command has been fixed, as of about 12 hours ago… been running smooth since then.

CounterStrike game stats will not be available for awhile… since the logging structure of HL/Cs changed with this new patch, I don’t think Inteli-Stats is going to be able to parse the log file data accurately. So instead of fucking up the stats, they are ‘on hold’ for the time being. PunkBuster has also been turned off on the match port for basically the same reason… changes to HL/CS in the way rcon is handled. I am hoping for updates on both soon.

Last but certainly not least, I’ve added two more admins to help watch over things on the CS ports. Next time you happen to see PUPPY or [wtf?]-intense_campsalot, be sure to tell them congratulations :-) They’ll be filling some much-needed spaces to help ensure a cheat-free/TK’ing-free environment on the CS ports. Welcome aboard guys!

Hrm… I’m really tired. It’s been one helluva week. Looks like this post isn’t so long-winded as I anticipated… good :-) Enjoy the server folks… see ya online.
