They drop 100% from monsters you personally kill and less for monsters that die otherwise. Never for monsters that kill themselves. 07:54 2) If a monster drops a spirit adjacent to you, you autocollect it. 07:54 3) Spirits vanish after a while, so you can't sit back and let conflict mop up a room and then collect everything. 07:55 4) You use these spirits to fuel the casting of necromancy spells, a new school. Necromancy spells consume some Pw but the spirits are the main fuel. Spell ideas: 07:55 4a) Reanimate creature, which takes 1 spirit and a corpse of the same monster, and brings it back to life as a pet. (Flagged as undead?) 07:55 4b) Soul blast, which consumes multiple spirits and produces an attack whose power is proportionate to the total monster difficulty of the expended spirits. 07:55 4c) unnamed: Consume 5-10 spirits of one monster type and create a tame monster of that type without a corpse. 07:55 4d) unnamed: Consume souls to regain HP or Pw. 07:55 4e) unnamed: Infuse your weapon/armor/other gear with souls, making it more effective for a time. 07:55 4f) unnamed: Consume souls of one species; polymorph into that monster. 07:55 4g) Charm undead: low cost, only works on undead. 07:55 4h) Create wight: works like reanimate creature, but the resulting creature gets level drain abilities. 07:55 4i) Empower undead: Buff all nearby undead pets. 07:55 5) Most undead generate peaceful to Necromancers. 07:55 6) There could be an "amulet of necromancy" which confers the soul-harvesting ability to a wearer of another role (Necromancers don't need one), but few other roles get any skill in necromancy spells. 07:55 7) Valkyries might also natively be able to collect souls, but only for the purposes of offering them on an altar for some alignment points, and get heavily penalized for using them in necromancy. 07:55 /kick aosdict (flooding) 07:56 is there any way to make inventory management of these spirit objects not annoying?
