So long DAoC

Well here’s a nice 180 for ya…

I came back to playing DAoC because my friends that were still playing the game from when we first started the Hardfought guild were telling me how much better the game had gotten and that the guild had reformed and it was a lot of fun and that I should come back and play. So I did. And then it all just went to hell in a hand-basket afterwards. It seems me coming back made a few things better and a few things worse at the same time. Better in that I was able to help get things started and get more people motivated into trying to do things as a guild, but worse in that there were some peoples attitudes and bitching I just wasn’t going to stand for and I appeared to be the only one to stand up and try correct it. Seems I fucked that one up, because now I was starting to see ‘factions’, people taking either this persons side on an issue or viewpoint, or another persons. Next thing ya know ya got half the guild arguing with the other… and ya try to calm that scene down but there’s always that one person who just can’t keep their fuckin’ mouth shut for two seconds to stop and think about what they’re typing before they type it, and the next thing ya know, you have people either getting kicked out or leaving over all this petty bullshit, and starting up lil ‘test’ guilds under some secret pretense.

Give me a fuckin’ break.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I know I’m as just as much to blame as everyone else involved, I’m sure there are some things I probably should have handled a lil bit more diplomatically. Maybe I’m just getting too old for these games and all the childish political clap-trap that goes along with ’em. So be it.

Was somewhat fun while it lasted, and it was good to see some old acquaintances I hadn’t seen in awhile… and at least I finally got to see level 50, eh? ;-) Oh well. Goodbye DAoC and all the pitfalls that go with it.
