Game Statistics are BACK!!

By K2 on March 28th, 2001 at 9:36 pm EST

Well… this was a nice surprise. I come home from work this evening, and I figured, what the hell, check out the Inteli-Stats page just to see WTF those guys were up to, if anything. Lo and behold, they released an update this evening to make Inteli-Stats compatible with the new version of CS. I’ve updated the stats program… it took awhile, but 15 days worth of missing stats have been processed, on both the public and match port. So go take a look :-)

Game stats are BACK!!! :-P

Nexus defends #1 spot OGL CCTF, CS news

By K2 on March 27th, 2001 at 11:12 pm EST

I need to do more news updates more often… seven days is just too long…

Nexus defended it’s #1 spot on the OGL CCTF ladder again, this time defeating XcP by a final score of 18-0. Nexus was represented by HaDeS, b0ba, CyBorge and myself… map played was Twisted Base (cctf6). This match was probably one of the easiest matches I think I’ve ever had the pleasure to help get set up for. Pick a server… done. Get everyone on the server… done. Heh :-P Good game to XcP, they played hard. Be sure to check our ‘Battles’ section for a screenshot and also our ‘Files’ section for demo’s of the match.

On the CounterStrike front… a couple things. First off… I’m now running ServerSpy to monitor the Hardfought CS public port. This is a multi-function admin tool, but the main thing I am using it for is to prevent TK’ers and team wounders from intentionally ruining the game. Here’s how it works… it tracks all players by their WON id, and checks to see if they TK/TW anybody, and how often it occurs. If you TK someone, you get a warning. Do it again within a certain time span, you get kick/banned for 5 minutes. Now… ServerSpy remembers you… so if you come back into the server, even under a different name, and start TK’ing again, you’ll get banned again. Do this often enough and ServerSpy will permanently ban you. Also… if you TK someone right at the start of a round, you’ll be permanently banned automatically… there’s no way in hell you can accidentally TK someone right at the start of a round. Now… if you accidentally TK someone, there are two ways that you can be ‘forgiven’, or have your penalty erased. First method is to not TK again for a certain amount of time… I’m not going to say how long, in case anyone wanted to exploit that. Lets just say you will need to be good for a long time afterwards :-) The second way to be forgiven is for the person you TK’ed to say !forgivetk in either messagemode1 or messagemode2 (public or team chat)… this will tell ServerSpy to erase the TK penalty from the person you just TK’ed. This has been in effect since last night, and seems to be working out pretty well… so now all of you that play during the odd hours when there’s not an admin around… you now have some relief :-)

Second… we had placed some more custom CS maps up on the public port… one of them cleared out the server since most of ya didn’t have them. My apologies on that… my bad. They have since been removed temporarily. Tonight is your one week notice to download these custom maps *now*, because they will be put back on the server next week. The new maps are as_forest, cs_office_old, and the es_ map pack, which includes es_frantic, es_trinity, es_cabor, es_cell, es_hide, es_jail, es_raid and es_village. All of these maps, as well as the other custom maps we offer, can be found in our ‘Files’ section on this website. Sooo… don’t delay, go get ’em now. Go go go!! :-P

Game stats will be updated to a new system in early April. Reason for the wait… I run this web server out of my apartment on my DSL line. Me and HaDeS are moving April 6th… our new DSL line *should* be active by then. I wanna get everything situated and moved in before I make a major change to the website like that. Just be patient… stats will be back soon, I promise. I enjoy seeing how bad I suck at CounterStrike… rofl.

That’s about all for now… food time. More news soon…

New CS Match server scripts, Intelistats, etc

By K2 on March 20th, 2001 at 8:05 pm EST

Hiya gang… just some quick news tidbits for ya to keep everyone in the know…

First off… a couple new script modifications have been added to the Hardfought CounterStrike Match port ( The biggest one is the incorporation of being able to vote to turn friendly fire ON or OFF… this should make the CS match port appeal to pretty much all CS clans out there, not just the hardcore FF ON types :-P Once logged into the match port, drop down the console and type /admin_vote_ff … it’s that simple. Just vote yes/no, the server will notify you as to the results of the vote. Also, I changed the AdminMod default time from being able to vote for a map change from 10 minutes to 5 seconds… a must if you wanna get a match/scrim/practice going right away. In the console, type /admin_vote_map and you’re ready to roll. Sooo… all you die hard FF ON players out there, if you know of any FF OFF clans needing a CS server to play matches on, send ’em my way… and don’t forget to mention our reservation system :-)

Game stats are still frozen at their current state, right before the server was updated to CS 1.1. There has been *NO* word on the Intelistats site about any new updates at all to accommodate the new logging code associated with the CS update. Plus, their message forums seem not to function anymore. I’m going to e-mail their lead programmer and ask him when we can expect an update to the Intelistats program. If I don’t receive a reply, or do not receive an answer I want, I’ll switch to something else… soon.

Nexus is defending their #1 OGL CCTF title against XcP this Thursday night. I’ll have news about that as it happens.

That’s all for now folks… more news later this week.

Nexus defends #1 OGL CCTF ladder rank, Major CS news, etc

By K2 on March 14th, 2001 at 11:41 pm EST

OH man do I have a ton of news for everyone… grab a brew, kick back and relax, this will take a bit of time to go over :-)

First off… our quake3 clan Nexus once again defends it’s #1 spot on the OGL CCTF ladder, defeating Masters at Destruction by a score of 9-4. Representing Nexus this time around was myself, Nemesis, FizZ and b0ba. This match may very well have been Nemesis’s last game with us… he’s moving this weekend and he’s not sure if he’ll be able to get broadband access out where he’s moving to or not :-( I sure as hell hope so… just in case he doesn’t, this game was for Nem. Good game Nemesis! :-P and good game to MaD, they played a very tough match. I’m tired of chasing enemy flag carriers… :-) Be sure to check out our ‘Battles’ and ‘Files’ sections for a screenshot of the match as well as demos from mine and a spectator’s perspective.

CounterStrike news… hrm, where to start ;-) CounterStrike 1.1 was released the other night, as most of you are well aware of by now… and a main engine update to Half-Life itself was also released this afternoon. Be sure to check our ‘Files’ section for the *FULL* CS 1.1 and Half-Life updates… yes, grab the full versions, not the patches. Turns out there’s some minor changes to maps and some bug fixes between the smaller upgrade files and the larger full version installers. The CS public and match port were updated using the full versions of each, so be sure to update your local copy of HL/CS with those to ensure a smooth transition. Also… the problem we had earlier with AdminMod crashing the port on map changes or any other issued command has been fixed, as of about 12 hours ago… been running smooth since then.

CounterStrike game stats will not be available for awhile… since the logging structure of HL/Cs changed with this new patch, I don’t think Inteli-Stats is going to be able to parse the log file data accurately. So instead of fucking up the stats, they are ‘on hold’ for the time being. PunkBuster has also been turned off on the match port for basically the same reason… changes to HL/CS in the way rcon is handled. I am hoping for updates on both soon.

Last but certainly not least, I’ve added two more admins to help watch over things on the CS ports. Next time you happen to see PUPPY or [wtf?]-intense_campsalot, be sure to tell them congratulations :-) They’ll be filling some much-needed spaces to help ensure a cheat-free/TK’ing-free environment on the CS ports. Welcome aboard guys!

Hrm… I’m really tired. It’s been one helluva week. Looks like this post isn’t so long-winded as I anticipated… good :-) Enjoy the server folks… see ya online.

Quick news blurb Friday

By K2 on March 9th, 2001 at 4:51 pm EST

Just a couple interesting news bits for this afternoon… YES, we are all still experiencing the dreaded ‘WON id 0’ bug that Valve has thrust upon the Half Life and assorted mods community. They had projected having their WON id servers updated by yesterday but that’s obviously not the case :-) So just a reminder… if you are somehow mysteriously banned from the CS port, just keep trying to reconnect. If you are somehow gagged, just inform an admin to ungag you (that’s a bug with Adminmod and how it deals with seeing a WON id of zero).

I’ve recently set up an IRC channel for Hardfought, on both the and IRC network… channel name is #hardfought. I’ve set up a sort of win32-based eggdrop bot in the channel on each network that relays what’s said in the channel between both networks. What does that mean exactly? It means if you’re on you can go to the #hardfought channel and people in the channel over on ETG can see what you’re saying and interact with you, and vice versa. Neat, eh? :-) Soooo… if you’re an IRC junkie like myself, feel free to hang out in the Hardfought IRC channel. All of the Hardfought admins are there if you need help with anything, or if you just wanna chat.

Nexus has had to reschedule it’s OGL CCTF match with MaD for a later date… due to some miscommunication on their end, they didn’t have enough people to play. We’ll be finalizing the new match date/time this evening… match should happen soon.

Gonna go spruce up our ‘Battles’ and ‘Files’ section now… see ya around.
